The Surefire Way To Seriously Change Your Thought Pattern

Today is the first day of The East Coast 2016 Blizzard. I find myself in a mental downward spiral of negative thinking. If I’m being totally honest with you and myself, worry and anxiety are creeping up and becoming very real to me.  It frustrates me that I still struggle to control my thoughts. I know better not to allow fears to take over. I know better to lay my fears and worries down at the foot of the cross and forget them. I know better.

But I’m human.

It’s not like I enjoy the way I feel when I am down. I really don’t. But sometimes it feels like I can’t control it. But I know better. I know that I can absolutely control it. I know that in my own strength I can not do what needs to be done. It’s times like these that I ask The Holy Spirit to take captive my thoughts. Literally I give The Holy Spirit permission to take over. Because clearly what I am accomplishing is the pits, anyways!

2 Corinthians 10:5

Take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ.

I remembered seeing this quote ‘gratitude changes everything

Duh. I know this. We all do. But we still find ourselves in a mental downward spiral at times. It’s not that we are in that place. It’s what we do to get out of it. I go deep into stories that I’ve never shared before in my latest book I wrote. Click HERE to check it out.

I began to count the things that I am grateful for. My loving God who adores me even at my ugliest and when I am spiteful. My loyal husband who again, adores me even at my ugliest and when I am spiteful. Health. Our warm home. The freedom that if something is going wrong, we have the ability to change it. I just kept naming and counting them. Because we all have countless things that we can be grateful for. Even in the darkest times.

I forget to be thankful for each day. I forget how good my life really is. Especially when I am focused on the small and insignificant things that seem so big in front of me.

So right now, take a minute to count your blessings. Share them with me and the others who read this so we can all be encouraged. We need every bit of encouragement we can get, right?!

Until next time.

Blessings to you my friend!
